Take Yourself on a Solo Date
Time to get your priorities straight.
Nothing better than a solo cafe date, or even trying a new food spot. You get to be in control and you get to decide everything. I'm all for having my social time, but sometimes I like to be bossy and get my own way (in a cute girlie way).
Why solo time hits different
Some people will find the idea of this absurd and super scary. I did at first. I always felt like if I went and did anything alone, people would be judging me. But it's actually quite the opposite. Over the years, when I've seen people doing fun things as a solo traveller, or just on a Sunday morning enjoying the local cafe, I've been in utter admiration. It sounds so silly, but I always thought, wow, that is so cool.
So I'm here to tell you that it is so very easy. My go-to suggestions are as below:
The solo date starter pack
Something that has a whimsical drink, something that is against what you would usually order. The crazier the better.
Get out and about, clear your head, and give yourself some time to decompress from a busy work week or a busy moment you've been having.
Better in summer, but also can be pulled off in the winter months. The goosebumps will be worth it. The ocean somehow can heal it all.
Sweat out any demons and cleanse the soul. Bonus points for over two minutes in the ice bath (brave it, you will be rewarded).
Head to the supermarket, pick up any ingredients you like, and make sure to include some sort of sweet treat, a fun cutesy drink, and lots of carbs. This is for your girl dinner. Pop on your favourite rom-com. For me it would be How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with a bowl of vodka pasta and a caesar salad, with a crispy Coke Zero. Enough said.
But it honestly could be anything you like. Learning to do things alone can be daunting, but it's so fun at the same time. Take the opportunity to give yourself space away from the crazy world and enjoy the small things.
